Poetry Under Oath: From the Testimony of William Jefferson Clinton and Monica S. Lewinsky
Published in Paperback by Workman Publishing (October, 1998)
Author: Tom Simon
Average review score:

Excellent!
Only in America could someone make money with something like this (and unlike a liberal I mean that in a postive way!)I'm sure Monica and Bill would sue for a percentage of the profits, but it would mean acknowledging their words . . . and the acts that went with them.

Shakespeare, eat your heart out!!!
With verse such as this, I can throw away all my Ezra Pound. More rhyming would have been welcomed, however.

Also, I think it is important to thank the publisher for printing the book in such a small format. Much easier to hold with one hand.

awesome
Can making money really be this easy? Why do I work 5 days a week? Either this author is a genius in the uniquely American fashion, or a complete burnout with too much time and dope on his hands.

Small Arms of the World: A Basic Manual of Small Arms
Published in Hardcover by Stackpole Books (December, 1983)
Authors: Edward Clinton Ezell, Ed Ezell, and W. H. B. Bwalter H. Smith
Average review score:

About as good as it gets
I highly recommend these Small Arms of the World books, due to the good coverage of Curio and Relic firearms, how you can take them apart to clean them, how they operate, pictures of individual weapons, interesting diargrams of some popular guns, and just simply the most information you are going to get on semi-automatic and full automatic firearms, at least that I can find. Seems that especially machine gun technology is some kind of restricted information somehow, at least in newer books, but at least these Small Arms books can help a former U.S. Army machine gunner like myself understand a little better how the guns I was checked out on,actually worked in principle. So, if your quest for knowledge is machine guns, then I defintely recommend these books. And if your quest for knowledge is Curio and Relic classified firearms, then especially the older versions of the Small Arms books are what you need. The newer ones kind of water down really old technology, while paying special emphasis on what was hot technology at the time, like a early seventies Small Arms will talk in depth on current American small arms like the M16, but will have minimal space on bolt action rifles, for instance.
I definitely recommend the 1969 9th edition as a good all around "get you by", if you just wanted one edition on older Curio and Reic Firearms, if you are a collector of Curios and Relics like me.

Important To Have
For the person interested in modern military small arms, this book is the place to start. It presents the material well, with good photographs, understandable diagrams, and interesting text. Hopefully an updated version will come out someday, but I don't think anyone will regret buying this one now. In fact, I have an older edition from the 1960's that I treasure for it's better coverage of now-obsolete firearms, special emphasis on World War 2 German designs, and more complete history of firearms through the centuries. This edition, on the other hand, gives more attention to weapons developed during the 1960's and 1970's. No doubt, after some future edition finally brings us up to date on modern high-tech weaponry this book will still be a valuable snapshot of the variety of arms in use throughout the world during the final decades of the 20th Century.

I highly recommend this book as the starting point for a good understanding of the small arms field, or as plain old good reading for the relatively technical-minded gun enthusiast.

The one and only guide to small arms
I am an individual who has worked in the realm of the governments and military's of the world. This is the one and only unclassified guide to small arms of the world, outside of Jane's defence publications. Ezell and Smith have published the only book that is widely used by small arms enthusiasts and people who rely on small arms information in their daily work. I only regret it is out of copy.

Before A Bad Goodbye
Published in Paperback by Word Publishing (22 July, 1999)
Author: Timothy Clinton
Average review score:

Replace a Bad Goodbye with Rekindled Love
Tim Clinton's book "Before a Bad Goodbye" is easy to read, is full of stories, practical advice, and most importantly hope. The first part of the book explains how you got to where you are in your marriage (you will think he is writing about YOU) and the second half of the book is how to rekindle your love for one another, even when one spouse is doing most of the trying. Tim Clinton emphasizes that marriages are sacred and holy ground, but he provides hope so that you don't feel like you are "gutting it out" for the next 20 or 40 years, just because God says so. It will help you fall in love all over again, and with the person God has given you. God bless you, and never, never, give up, and never, never lose hope!

Before a Bad Goodbye
I'm a therapist who does a lot of couples counseling. This is the best book I've read on understanding and healing your relationships. I wish every client and couple struggling with their relationship would read this! It offers a Christian perspective from a caring, yet straight-forward approach. If you're in doubt about your relationship, please read this!

Emotional, Scary, and Inspiring
This book was able to help me understand not only what we both have done "wrong" in our marriage, but also the emotions these actions have created in us. Timothy Clinton gave me more insight on my wife then she could herself. Although this book deals with tough issues, I found it inspiring. When you feel hopeless and powerless, it helps you realize you are not alone in this world. I learned that our issues are not unique to our marriage, but problems that every couple goes through. The difference is how we react to these problems, and this book gives a good guideline on how to react constructively. If I could pick one thing for my wife to do to renew hope and interest in our marriage, I would chose for her to read this book.

Boy Captives

the boy captives
I am very excited about this book and the history,This story is about my family ,, Frances Short Smith is my Great- Great Aunt ,, I recall the stories from my Grandfather ,, and looking at the origanal book was so exciting ,, this is a must for history buffs ,,,,

Excellent first-hand account, not "politically correct"
By pure luck, I ran across this excellent first hand account of the Smith brothers captivity by Comanches in Texas. Written before a revisionist philosophy dominated history writing, their accounts of Indian raids and murders in Texas in the 1870s are the opposite of what is usually written or shown on screen today. My sympathies are with the Texas pioneers who suffered so much. Outstanding reading from such a little book.

Amazing Book!
Amazing story of a boy who was captured and lived with the Comanche Indians for five years. He actually became a Comanche and identified as an Indian while he was with them. Fought with them against other tribes and the US army, etc. Told in an absolutely matter of fact manner. Written in 1927 so not "politically correct" but gives an amazing view of frontier life and life with the Indians. It is in print.

Chronicle of America
Published in Hardcover by JMJ Educational Sales (August, 1993)
Authors: Clifton Daniel, J L International Publishing, and William J. Clinton
Average review score:

Fun, breezy, and informative
"Chronicle of America" is a capsulized approach to American history from 1492 to present. Significant events are organized as newspaper articles that quickly break down the most important aspects of the event in a simple "who, what, where, when, and how" format. Contemporary illustrations and photographs are interspersed throughout each year to reinforce the newspaper approach.

Although especially handy for young students, this book is also useful when you need to just look up a few basic facts without having to wade through or locate more indepth works. Definitely handy to have around.

chronicle of america
As a Librarian I use this book several times a week. There is nothing like it for putting issues in context. The newspaper format and photographs make it attractive to young people. I hope that a new edition will come out soon.

Excelent
This book is a MUST if you are interested in American history. It very easy to follow having been written as a collection of news articles. I would recomend this book to anyone, even students.

Well done re-enactment with some sizzle!
One of the most interesting pieces of history ever. This was easy to listen to and very well put together. At times I felt as though I was in the hallway with Monica and Bill. Not really dirty, but very true-to-life. A must read for everyone.

Best Political Entertainment Ever!!!!!!!!!!!
If you are ready for some hilarious but true and factual political entertainment, these tapes are excellent. Get all the facts and laugh your way to work while driving....Superb listening!!

Fantastic audio of Starr's report
Kenneth Starr's report is brought to life by this credible audio oif the details of his report. The narrators made this tape very easy to listen to. Both the narrator and Monica made listening to this tape very enjoyable and the lengthy diction was easily comprehended. The quotes that were directly read by Monica gave the tape an interesating angle to the story and the actual details of the report.Thisd was a great follow up to volume one. It was very easy to follow and passed the time driving in the car. I can't wait for more of the materials on this case to come out on audio. This is a must buy for anyone interested in history!

Getting Results: Five Absolutes for High Performance, 6 x 9
Published in Hardcover by Jossey-Bass (01 June, 2001)
Authors: Clinton O. Longenecker and Jack L. Simonetti
Average review score:

Top down management is still "Getting Results"
This is a wonderful book. I would recommend it highly to anyone interested in reading how most of the successful companies are getting the job done. The survey and follow-up interviews from thousands of companies are well documented. It is easy to read and easy to ferret out solutions to specific problems that you may be experiencing in your business. What was striking to this reader was the general lack of the use of self-directed work teams in the businesses that were surveyed, and the continued reliance on the use of individual performance reviews and appraisals to motivate and direct employees. Successful businesses today are still following the basic rules of top down management that have been in place for many years. One must draw their own conclusion about whether this is the BEST way to do business. It certainly appears to be THE most popular and maybe the easy way to do business.

Solid research for the serious manager
Business is about getting results. And "Getting results" gets down to business in a very direct fashion, using research and the authors' work with senior executives to construct basic guidelines for enabling and empowering managers and organizations. The survey results on the top twenty things a leader needs to do to be effective is probably worth the cost of the book. Some of the ideas and data went straight into my classroom. This might even work for many business faculty as a text for a basic graduate course in management or leadership.

The book lacked a little bit of the 'Tom Peters verve' that wins over large numbers of readers and gets books recognized by business magazines. But serious, thoughtful students of the science (and art) of business will not be disappointed.

Thoughtful and Practical
This is one of the volumes which comprise the University of Michigan Business School Management Series. According to Longenecker and Simonetti, there are "five absolutes for high performance" and they examine each with both precision and eloquence. Few (if any) are original. The most effective managers probably practice them (and others) to achieve superior results. Whichever "absolutes" are embraced, they are obviously worthless without effective implementation in combination with both a determination and an ability to adjust to circumstances which can change quickly at any time. Here are the five absolutes:

#1 Get Everyone on the Same Page: Focus on the Purpose of Your Organization

#2 Prepare for Battle: Equip Your Operation with Tools, Talent, and Technology

#3 Stoke the Fire of Performance: Create a Climate for Results

#4 Build the Bridge on the Road to Results: Nurture Relationships with People

#5 Keep the Piano in Tune: Practice Continuous Renewal

No doubt each reader can easily rephrase each of the five or at least cluster several synonyms which suggest each absolute's key point. For example, #1 suggests the importance of agreement (or consensus) on which teamwork always depends whereas #5 suggests the importance of constant attention to the progress of any initiatives so that appropriate modifications can be made. The Japanese word "kaizen" means more than continuous renewal; those involved in such efforts must always be aware of maintaining proper balance (or proportion), especially when responding to a crisis of some kind.

For whom will this book be most valuable? The authors wrote it for "managers at all levels who are looking for ways to improve the performance not only of themselves but also of the people they are directly responsible for." I presume to suggest that this book would also be valuable to recent graduates who have only recently begun a business career. Every organization (including non-profits and family-owned businesses) needs to have an easily understood system (as well as sound strategies) by which to achieve the desired results. Longenecker and Simonetti provide such a system in this book. It remains for decision-makers, especially, "at all levels" to modify the system to their organization's specific needs and objectives. In the Afterword, Longenecker and Simonetti suggest how to "get the ball rolling" toward getting results: Always start with the end in mind, build a model of the absolutes to your organization to be effective as a leader, identify the practices that are most critical to your success, and develop the talents needed to implement and sustain the absolutes for high-performance. Heard all this before? Probably. Are you satisfied with the results you and your organization are now achieving? If not, here is a source to help clarify and assist your initiatives in weeks and months to come. Longenecker and Simonetti conclude their book and I conclude this review with an especially appropriate observation by Henry David Thoreau: "This time, like all time, is a great time, if we simply know what to do with it."

The Tripp/Lewinsky Tapes

Great, Imformative, and Just Great
Great listen. If you want to hear juicy things about the most famous presidency, just buy this. It is great. Geoffrey did a great job on the writing, narrative, editing.. everything. Just get it, listen to it, and listen again. The closest thing you will get to the court room

Thanks Geoff!

Good for listening in the car!
I just let this run continuously when driving in my car. I bet I've listened to it 25 times already! The details are unbelievable. Linda was a real _itch to do this to a "friend" but it's a good thing she did or that A-hole never would have been caught. Monica talks in intimate detail about her affair with Bill...dates, places, activities, etc. There are 22 hours of tapes in all; this is just the best parts. Makes you want to say to Ms Tripp "get a life!" but it's a great listen!!

Now YOU Can Hear Tripp and Lewinsky!
I was practically upsest with getting this tape. And the results - awesome! You finally get to hear Tripp and Lewinsky in their own words! I've never been so please. 5 stars all the way!!!

The Children's Year: Crafts & Clothes for Children and Parents to Make
Published in Paperback by Bell Pond Books (1986)
Authors: Stephanie Cooper, Christine Flynes-Clinton, Mariye Rowling, Christine Fynes-Clinton, and Marye Rowling
Average review score:

A must for the Waldorf-crafter
A large sized paperback book containing directions for 112 crafts. This book was written with the Waldorf education style in mind. In keeping with the Waldorf method, the book is divided into each of the four seasons and the projects correlate with the appropriate season. Also in keeping with the Waldorf teaching style, the materials are all natural, the toys are not finely finished, there are fairies and gnomes, and natural clothing items. There are simple handcrafts for woodworking, sewing, embroidery, and knitting. Special projects for holidays and festivals are featured. Some examples are Easter tree, willow whistle, Whitsun dove mobile, knitted baby jumpsuit, baby's felt ball, grass doll and grass horse, advent calendar, knitted finger puppets and dolls. The finished projects range from infant toys to items for the adolescent. There are no photographs in the book, instead, illustrations are hand drawn with black ink. The most annoying feature to me, is that the projects are not dedicated to their own page. They run on and on, for example, project #21 may start at the end of page 15 and continue to page 16, then page 16 has all of project #22 and the start of project #23. I don't feel that most of these projects directly correlate to a season and are therefore very jumbled. For example, a baby rattle, a cloth basket, and dolls don't pertain to a season. The book would be easier to follow and use if the projects were categorized into sections such as toys for infants, toys for young children, sewn items, knitted items, or clothing items. The projects seem very jumbled and out of order (except for the obvious festival and holiday projects that definitely correlate with a season). If you are not a knitter or a sewer, many of these projects will be impossible to make. If you are not a Waldorf teacher, parent, or student, you may not be interested in most of these projects, for example, you may be happy buying a plastic rattle rather than making a wooden rattle by hand. If you are interested in Waldorf education and like all the kinds of handcrafts that children in Waldorf schools routinely make, you will love this book. The authors followed this book with a larger book with even more projects titled "All Year Round".

The Children's Year: Crafts & Clothes for Children
I love this book!!!!! I have made many of the crafts in this book and have loved everyone. The instructions are really good but they leave some room for thought of your own(the Wadorf way). This book will really make you think about what it is your children are playing with. After handcrafting a doll or a climbing gnome you will see the reaction from your children or others. Eyes bright and full of curiousity will inspire you to make more and more of your own toys rather than store bought imitations.

From the back cover:
Creative handbook may give joy and satisfaction to adults and children alike. Here is a book relating the making-of-things to the seasons; taking the reader through Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter with appropriate toys and gifts to create, with full, clear instructions and illustrations. Designs and patterns for children's clothing are included, particularly meant to be made of natural fabrics to let the child's body breathe while growing. There are soft itens for play and beauty, and there are firm wooden ones; moving toys such as balancing birds or climbing gnomes; horses which move when you add children to them! From wooly hats to play houses, mobiles or dolls, here are over 100 potential treasures to make in seasonal groupings.

You needn't be an experienced craftsperson to create something lovely, and the illustrations make it a joy to page through while choosing what to make first. "The Children's Year" offers handwork for all ages and individualities; it reminds us of the process of creating as opposed to merely consuming, and all this in the contect of nature's rhythm through the year.
